YouTube Nation, the daily viral-video series backed by Google’s YouTube and produced by DreamWorks Animation, is coming to an end.
DWA had overseen production of the show, which debuted in January; the studio’s digital-focused AwesomenessTV division was not involved. YouTube managed sales and marketing, with Verizon as the initial sponsor.
However, even as YouTube Nation’s channel subscribers have grown to about 2 million, the parties are now moving on to different initiatives. DWA this summer launched DreamWorksTV, a YouTube channel aimed at families with a mix of content from the studio’s animated and live-action original series.
DWA declined to comment on the shutdown of YouTube Nation, whose final webcast is slated for Friday. Dec. 5.
