The historic announcements by HBO and CBS CBS +0.37% that they are breaking loose from cable bundles, to be offered a la carte, was in no doubt big news. But really – it’s too little and too late. That ship has sailed. There’s a new landscape of offered content that younger people are already consuming, and it allows the viewer to be as promiscuous as they want – even to the point of ordering, and paying, for their own shows.
It’s all happening so fast, you can almost forgive the press for not stepping back and sorting out what the impact on consumers might be.
