Despite biting reviews from a number of critics, fans of TV personality Chelsea Handler have still been brimming with excitement over the upcoming premiere of her new show โ€œAre You There, Chelsea?โ€ which premieres tonight at 8:30 on NBC (available on FreeCast tomorrow). The show follows the day-to-day life of Chelsea (played by Laura Prepon) as she faces various comedic problems in a laugh-track packed, multi-camera sitcom. Though she doesnโ€™t play the lead role of herself, the real Chelsea Handler still plays a major role as Chelseaโ€™s (Lauraโ€™s) sister.
In a recent interview with the Huffington Postโ€™s Maggie Furlong, Laura Prepon discussed what itโ€™s like to work on the show. Among her sentiments about her characterโ€™s promiscuity and what it was like to work with her former โ€œThat 70s Showโ€ co-star Wilmer Valderrama, Laura describes the show as being similar to the 80s show โ€œCheersโ€.
Like the classic TV show, the most common setting in โ€œAre You There, Chelsea?โ€ is somewhat of a dive bar filled with regular patrons who contribute to the showโ€™s story. As Prepon says, โ€œโ€ฆthey serve beer and chicken wings, and I know everyone who works there โ€“ itโ€™s like my Cheers.โ€
