21st Century Fox and Apollo Global Management have signed a joint venture that will create a global production powerhouse comprising of television production companies Shine Group, Endemol and Core Media Group.

The merger means the group will have control of 600 formats across 30 countries, with shows including Deal or No Deal, MasterChef and American Idol now under one global TV production umbrella.
Fox and Apollo will jointly manage the newly created group, with each partner owning 50pc. The venture will be led by Sophie Turner Laing, former Managing Director of Content at BskyB, who will become the group’s CEO.
Shine was founded in 2001 by Elisabeth Murdoch, daughter of Rupert Murdoch. The company is behind hits such as Broadchurch, MasterChef and One Born Every Minute.
